What Can I Donate?

Here's How You Can Truly Help

At Help 4 the Homeless, one question rises above all others:
"What can I donate?"

It’s a beautiful question — and one we love hearing — because it means you care. You're ready to act. You want to help.

So we’ve made it easy.
We’ve created a list of the most-needed items — the essentials that are requested most often, run out fastest, and make the biggest difference to our friends living on the streets. From warm socks and hygiene kits to sleeping bags and nutritious snacks, these aren’t just “nice to haves.” These are lifelines.

But just as important as what we need is what we don’t need.

That might sound surprising — maybe even ungrateful — coming from a charity. But hear us out. The wrong kind of donation, while well-intentioned, can end up costing us. In time, in space, and sometimes even in waste disposal fees. Every minute we spend sorting unusable items is a minute we’re not out on the streets doing what matters most: helping people.

Think of it this way: donating thoughtfully ensures that every resource goes where it’s needed most — not into a landfill, but into someone’s hands.

Our full list of most-needed items — and items we kindly ask you not to donate — is longer than you might expect. But we’re not asking you to give everything. We’re simply asking: give what you can, and give what counts.

Because when everyone gives a little of the right things, we can make a massive difference — together.
